Terms of Service

EduConnect is operated by Birr Tech. These terms apply to the EduConnect website and the accounts that span its platforms.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Birr Tech ("Birr Tech", "we", "us") governing your access to and use of the EduConnect website and the services offered through it. EduConnect hosts two platforms: BirrClass, the learning platform available at /class, and BirrSchool, the schools platform available at /school. Each platform may publish additional, platform-specific terms; where those conflict with these Terms, the platform-specific terms prevail for that platform only.

By creating an account, registering a school, enrolling in a class or otherwise using EduConnect, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

2. Who may use EduConnect

  • You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, a parent or guardian must consent to your use of the platform.
  • School accounts must be created by a person authorized to act for the school. You are responsible for the accuracy of the school information you publish.
  • Educator and organization accounts must comply with any local registration or licensing requirements applicable to the training or teaching you provide.

3. Accounts and your responsibility

You must provide accurate, current information when registering and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, for safeguarding your credentials, and for notifying us immediately at support@birrtech.dev if you suspect unauthorized use. We may suspend or limit an account where we reasonably believe it has been compromised or is being used in breach of these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the platforms for any unlawful purpose, or to publish content that is defamatory, fraudulent, hateful, sexually explicit or that infringes the rights of others;
  • impersonate any person, school or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with any of them;
  • scrape, harvest or enumerate the directory, user data or verification endpoints at scale, or circumvent rate limits and access controls;
  • interfere with the operation of the platforms, probe or scan for vulnerabilities without written permission, or reverse engineer portions of the service except where permitted by law;
  • upload malware, attempt credential stuffing, or use the platforms to distribute spam;
  • manipulate reviews, ratings, results or certificates — including by creating accounts for the purpose of influencing them.

5. Payments, fees and BirrPay

Creating accounts on BirrClass and browsing BirrSchool are free. Paid items — course enrollments, class subscriptions and school plans — are processed through BirrPay, our payments rail. Prices for courses and classes are set by the educators and organizations offering them; prices for school plans are published on the BirrSchool pricing page. BirrPay handles checkout, receipts and payouts, and applies its own payment terms to the transaction.

  • A modest platform fee may be applied to paid enrollments; the applicable percentage is disclosed at the point of sale and on the pricing page before you commit.
  • Refunds for course or class purchases are handled according to the educator's stated refund policy, displayed on the checkout page; where no policy is stated, you may request a refund within 48 hours of purchase provided less than 20% of the course content has been accessed.
  • School plan subscriptions renew per the billing cycle chosen at registration and may be cancelled before the next renewal date.
  • We may change platform fees prospectively; changes never apply retroactively to a completed purchase.

6. Content ownership and licenses

You keep ownership of the content you create. Educators and organizations own their courses, classes and materials; schools own the information and media they publish on their BirrSchool websites; learners own their submissions. To operate the service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting and publicly display your content strictly for the purpose of running, promoting and securing EduConnect.

  • The EduConnect name, BirrClass and BirrSchool brands, software and site design are the property of Birr Tech and may not be copied or used without permission.
  • Certificates issued through BirrClass are signed by the platform; the issuer (educator or organization) is responsible for the accuracy of what the certificate states.
  • If you believe content on the platforms infringes your rights, send the details to support@birrtech.dev and we will investigate and, where warranted, remove it.

7. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep EduConnect fast and available, including a static-first public web tier with a 99.9% uptime target. The service is nevertheless provided without warranty of uninterrupted availability, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service — for example, to release improvements or retire a feature — with reasonable notice where practical.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Birr Tech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us through the platform in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using EduConnect and delete your account at any time from your account settings or by writing to support. We may suspend or terminate an account, or remove content, if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if your conduct creates risk for other users or the platforms. Where feasible we will warn you first; we may terminate without notice for serious breaches such as fraud, abuse of learners, or attempts to manipulate results and reviews.

Upon termination: your right to use the platforms ends; content you published may be removed or, for schools, unpublished; licenses you granted for hosting end except that already-issued certificates and transaction records are retained as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the platforms evolve. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised "last updated" date, and — for significant changes — by notice in the affected platform at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use EduConnect after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
